India 183/5 (Kohli 39*, Vijay 46, Pandya 11*; Ngidi 1-26) trail South Africa 335 (Markram 94, Amla 82, du Plessis 63) by 152 runs

Reviews Left: SA – 1, IND – 2

South Africa chipped away at the Indian top order while Virat Kohli kept his team in the game with a fighting, unbeaten half-century. The visitors are still behind by 152 runs at the end of Day 2.

After dismissing South Africa for 335, India lost two wickets (Rahul(10) & Pujara(0)) before the Tea break. Murali VIjay and Virat Kohli steadied the innings with a timely partnership of 79 runs before Vijay was caught behind off the bowling of Keshav Maharaj. The Indian think-tank will continue to field questions on the selection of Rohit Sharma over Ajinkya Rahane as Sharma(10) yet again failed with the bat. He was trapped LBW by a sharp inswinger from Kagiso Rabada. Lungi Ngidi got his maiden Test wicket next when he had stand-in keeper Parthiv Patel(19) caught behind. Meanwhile, at the other end, Kohli was at his imperious best, scoring at a breezy rate (65.38) and stamping his authority at the Centurion. Hardik Pandya was tested with some short stuff by the pacers in his brief stay but he came away unscathed to make sure he would walk out alongside his captain on the 3rd morning of this intriguing Test match.
